Joomla User Group YOOtheme

Every second Thursday of the month at 14:00 UTC ie 15:00 CET (check my time)
we gather YOOtheme Pro (YTP) Users online around one or several topics. Access is totally free.

Whatever your level (starter, intermediate, expert) there will be something for you.
Don't hesitate to suggest topics or to volunteer as a speaker.

This official Joomla User Group (JUG) is an initiative of 2 passionate YOOtheme Users.
With other words, it is independent and is not run by YOOtheme itself. We are volunteers.

The idea was born at the JoomlaDays Netherlands 2025, therefore the form of a "Joomla" User Group.
But everybody is welcome obviously, whatever the CMS:   Joomla or WordPress.

How does it work in practice?

  • Around 15 minutes before each Session the link will be published on the present website, next to the Session details.
  • No need to install any software: you can join the Sessions directly from your browser. BTW, we use Jitsi a.o. because it is open-source ;)
  • Missed a Session? Too bad because there is nothing like participating and exchanging live. But normally all sessions will be recorded and shared afterwards.

  • Some new features of YOOtheme Pro 5 + Content Types in Joomla with YOOtheme Pro (using a municipal website as an example)

  • YOOtheme Pro is a page builder for Joomla that makes it easy to visually design content. Any content can be dynamically loaded into the layouts. This allows you to create everything from site-wide templates to mega menus. In this presentation, I will show you how to structure content into different types with their own categories and fields, and how to link them together. This will be clearly demonstrated using the example of a website for a municipality with information on authorities, locations, people, downloads, events, and more.

We had not expected that about 200 persons would join this very first live Meeting. 🥳

Apparently, so many persons in one Room was not reasonable. 😱

Quite luckily we quickly found a Plan B and could stream the Session on a public link from a new Meeting Room. 🖵

Our apologies for these ~15 minutes of delay... but above all thank you very much for being so enthusiastic about this new project! 🙏

    With other words, more a "bottom > up" than a "top > down" Session.

    So try to think in advance about

    • Tips & Tricks that you could share: it could be a tiny thing or a huge thing, everything counts!
    • Precise Questions that you might have

    Here is a practical example: at the first YOOtheme Community Day in Hamburg, during a Q&A

    • my question was: "in a Grid (or other) Element where you fetch Items dynamically, sometimes those Items have an Image, sometimes not. So where there is no assigned image, how could you possibly have a Default Image instead?"
    • then somebody answered "just use RegEx (Regular Expression)". So smart, so easy! I will show exactly how during the Session
